- Hi there!

- There are many solutions apart from ARJ and null modem. Personnaly I used a
- file splitting program that exists in a PC and atari version. I know two
- such programs. I could mail them to the list or give an ftp address where
- you can find them.

- Why not. But we have already plenty of work ;)

- Not as such. For the moment, the program uses the data as is. When they are
- loaded, the WADs should be converted (from 256 colors to NTC, etc.) But it
- is important to be able to read the original doom files. Otherwise, the
- project loses a lot of its interest. But we could include our own WAD (that
- we could build on a PC, what's the problem?) and pretend that it's a
- completely different game. Nothing to do with Doom. It would just be (by a
- strange coincidence) compatible with WADs. And if people want to use it with
- iD's WADs... Of course it would be better to have iD's approval.
- BTW this point has not really been settled yet: will the program convert the
- WAD each time it is loaded or will we do a program that converts it once and
- for all? I think that the second solution is legally not a good idea: you
- shouldn't alter a commercial work without it's author's consent. But using
- the data and treating it is another matter.
- Ah, and if it's compatible with Doom I and II, it wouldn't be very difficult
- to enhance it so that it can handle Heretic... The only difference being,
- IIRC the flying abilities of the player and monsters.
-
- Bye.
